Philippine Embassy in Budapest commemorates Rizal Day 2020
In commemoration of the 124th anniversary of Dr.Jose P. Rizal’s martydom, the Philippine Embassy in Budapest held a program to pay tribute to the national hero. A flag-raising ceremony was followed by a flower offering by Ambassador Frank R. Cimafranca and Madam Lucila C. Cimafranca.
Ambassador Cimafranca delivered his special message on the life and works of Dr. Jose P. Rizal in the context of this year’s theme, “Jose Rizal: Inspirasyon sa Pagbangon at Paghilom ng Bayan.” He urged everyone to emulate Dr. Rizal’s strong patriotism and love for learning. The Ambassador also enjoined all to make the national hero an inspiration in helping the country as it copes with the ongoing pandemic and all the hardships that it endured during the year.
To end the program, there was a reading of Dr. Rizal’s famous poem, “My Last Farewell (Mi Ultimo Adios),” in its original language, Spanish, and also in three other languages: Filipino, Hungarian, and English. Consul Ria E. Gorospe, Attaché Iluminada T. Manalo, Mr. Balint Drimal, and Ms. Loreen Manalo performed the poetry reading.
A simple but traditional Filipino breakfast was served to the Embassy officers, staff, and families to cap this year’s Rizal Day celebration. END
